CAIR Report on Islamophobia in the United States – Calling CAIR to account for its Omissions
[PHBF California] The recently issued CAIR Report: Same Hate, New Target: Islamophobia and Its Impact in the United States January 2009-December 2010, a joint collaboration of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the UC Berkeley’s Center for Race and Gender, will certainly come in handy one day if Muslims ever become like their Jewish brethren – the eternal victims. The Jews have perfected the art of seeking endless claims, as noted in the Press Release ( Did You or Your Family Take Palestinian Property during the Jewish Zionist Era Since 1948? June 27, 2011 ). But the new victims shall surely “better that instruction” (Shakespeare in Merchant of Venice)*. That is the natural outcome when victimization and victimhood are amply lamented, dissected, and documented, but not its first cause!
Documenting symptoms of a disease with much fanfare while staying silent on its primary causes, serves only the interests of that which cause the disease, not of its victims.
No disease has ever been cured by focussing on the symptoms. While certainly a diagnostic aide to the underlying disease, dissecting the symptoms does not lead to its cure. Accurately diagnosing the underlying disease does.
That is the primary shortcoming of the CAIR report on Islamophobia in the United States. While it has abundantly documented the symptoms and incidences of Islamophobia, its strange silence on the underlying disease demonstrates either the incompetence of those writing the report, or, their villainous co-option to the powers which feed them. Or both.
Since CAIR presents itself as a non-profit public-interest organization representing Muslim interests in the United States, its calculated omission does little to alleviate the suffering of the Muslims of the United States as victims of Islamophobia. In fact, it does them grave disservice.
The Muslim silence on the cause of Islamophobia is their own condemnation. That condemnation is not attenuated by their copious narratives of the crimes of Islamophobia being visited upon them.
To stop Islamophobia, rather than to continue to endure it to eventually become perpetual victims of it, one has to strike decisively at its root cause. All those Muslim institutions proclaiming to represent or to serve Muslim interests and not doing so, must at least be asked by the public whom they claim to serve, to explain their palpable omissions.
Therefore, by way of this short Press Release by an ordinary Muslim plebeian living in the United States, an open request is made to all Muslim establishments of North America:
to all public-interest institutions adorning themselves with the word “Islam” or “Muslim” in their organization's title,
to all organizations which seek donations from Muslims and proclaim to serve them,
to all mosques and community centers,
to all religious leaders and Imams who wear Islam on their forehead while living off the donations of their flock for guiding them in the ways and means of the virtuous life,
and to anyone else who cares when victims are being constructed of the “other” people,
to call upon CAIR to explain its omissions.
Issue a press release demanding to know whose interests CAIR primarily serves: the Mighty Wurlitzer's, or the victims in their glossy 68-page brochure on Islamophobia.

* Shakespeare's passage in context: “If you prick us, do we not bleed? if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison us, do we not die? and if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that. The villainy you teach me, I will execute, and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction.”
